Exactly 2 years ago I got my first Tellason Jean the Ankara in 14.75 oz, and now there is a time for a change. Or at least to start to break in a new pair of Jeans. Thanks to Amtraq and Tellason for this great new pair. The Ankara needs some patching in the crouch area which probably was caused by cycling quite a lot. Apart from that there is a lot of life in them, but quite sad to realize some time they will just fall apart ( and I do not will use them as a underwear ;-).

The reason I choose the Sheffield in favor to the Ankara was just to try a slightly different cut. The Sheffield is quite the same pattern as the Ankara with enough space for having a comfortable fit for guys with bigger legs and a bit more tampered to the end. The 16.5 oz fabric woven by White Oak Cone Mills Denim for Tellason fells like a tank but I might have forgotten how the 14.75 oz felt at the beginning. I´m really looking forward to see the development of this pair after the first wash – which won´t take too long since muddy dogs or myself are quite good in not avoiding dirt to well.

Union Special Hemming Service

Just before the Bread & Butter started in Berlin I made a quick visit at the DC4 Store. I was very lucky to meet Olaf there who was kindly enough to share some of his very detailed knowledge about denim and esp. Japanese Denim with me. And even more luck I had that right at the moment the store owner Daniel needed his pair of jean hemmed by Olaf. So I could document the steps of hemming which DC4 does quite exclusively in Germany (please let me know If you knew other Stores who offer chain stitch hemming service on a Union Special sewing machine). 

–  quick after this post Tim contacted me that Jeanspaleis is doing a similar service in the Netherlands. Check his post a while ago about their service – here:

With every pair of jean you buy at DC4 (marked by the print on the inside pocket) you get the hemming there for free. Other options to upgrade/customize it, are the leather patch service, you can get one or all patches which are laser made sewn on your jean.
So if you are a serious denim lover here is the place to get some really special crafted Japanese Jeans and the advice needed to make your final decision.

An now comes the sad part. Just a day after I made those images the shop got robbed. I do not know if the shop was left totally empty but as I wrote all Jeans have got the DC4 print on the pockets. So please check any premium Japanese Jeans you buy or getting offered and report it to DC4 in case you spot the their Stamp or tries to remove of a print.

Tellason Bird Raw Denim Jean

Here some unpublished images of the Tellason Bird Raw Denim Jean, which I took for the review I wrote for Denimhunters. After about 2 month of wear Maria from Feinschmuck is more and more happy with this jean. It took here some wears to break it in and get the denim softer hence she mostly owned pre washed or stretch jean.

Here the post I did for Denimhunters:

” For men, some of the top priorities when choosing our jeans would likely be the general fit, the weight of the denim, the colour and size of the pockets for stowing in our stuff. For the ladies it’s another story; the main issue here is how well the jean makes them look from behind. Disregarding how well it may be constructed, the durability of the denim, or the intensity of the colour, the jean won’t score high at all if it doesn’t score in fit. Tellason seems to have found a way to combine all the things men value in denim with a great fit in the newly released Bird lady jean.

After about 2 month of constant wear of the Tellason chore coat, now called Tellason Coverall jacket I have to say it performs very well. The big tool or utility pockets are perfect to store gloves, dust masks and other stuff. The seams, pockets, denim and rivets are all without any damage. As you can see on the images, I´m right handed by the marks of the grey nautic paint. Thanks again to Amtraq & Tellason for the “donation”.

Made in San Francisco from White Oak Cone denim and leather label from Tanner Goods. Huge pockets, even I can get my mobile, wallet and my hands together in one front pocket (and my hands are big!).  I really like the hand printed instructions on the pockets and the straight leg cut. I need the feeling to wear trousers – no leggins. Tellason is widely available in the States, in Europe check Amtraq distributed shops.
