Time for a change – A new pair of Tellason Sheffield 16.5 oz Raw Denim Jeans arrived:
Exactly 2 years ago I got my first Tellason Jean the Ankara in 14.75 oz, and now there is a time for a change. Or at least to start to break in a new pair of Jeans. Thanks to Amtraq and Tellason for this great new pair. The Ankara needs some patching in the crouch area which probably was caused by cycling quite a lot. Apart from that there is a lot of life in them, but quite sad to realize some time they will just fall apart ( and I do not will use them as a underwear ;-).
The reason I choose the Sheffield in favor to the Ankara was just to try a slightly different cut. The Sheffield is quite the same pattern as the Ankara with enough space for having a comfortable fit for guys with bigger legs and a bit more tampered to the end. The 16.5 oz fabric woven by White Oak Cone Mills Denim for Tellason fells like a tank but I might have forgotten how the 14.75 oz felt at the beginning. I´m really looking forward to see the development of this pair after the first wash – which won´t take too long since muddy dogs or myself are quite good in not avoiding dirt to well.
Here some unpublished images of the Tellason Bird Raw Denim Jean, which I took for the review I wrote for Denimhunters. After about 2 month of wear Maria from Feinschmuck is more and more happy with this jean. It took here some wears to break it in and get the denim softer hence she mostly owned pre washed or stretch jean.
” For men, some of the top priorities when choosing our jeans would likely be the general fit, the weight of the denim, the colour and size of the pockets for stowing in our stuff. For the ladies it’s another story; the main issue here is how well the jean makes them look from behind. Disregarding how well it may be constructed, the durability of the denim, or the intensity of the colour, the jean won’t score high at all if it doesn’t score in fit. Tellason seems to have found a way to combine all the things men value in denim with a great fit in the newly released Bird lady jean.
The details of the jean:
Straight leg lady cut
12.5 oz. blueline non-stretch raw selvage denim form Cone Mills White Oak
Unlike the men’s Tellason jeans the Bird has a zip fly
Tellason’s European distributorAmtraqwas kind enough to let Maria from Feinschmuck try out a pair of the Bird – the one pictured throughout this article. The jean looks great and will look even better once worn in. As it’s not a stretch denim and the fit is rather slim, we expect great fades with this one. We love the fact that Tellason accepted the challenge to create a proper pair of lady jeans, top of the line in quality and fit.
Somehow it seems that taking a new Tellason piece with me on vacation turns into a habit. While the images of the Tellason Ankaraon the coast of Liguria at the end of Summer 2012 were somehow cheerful and sunny, the weather and the hills in Piedmontnow were mostly nebulous (thats what the famous Nebbiolo (Barolo) grapes got their name from).
The weather fitted the planned use for the Tellason Clampdown 10.5 oz Denim shirt too well. While I would rate the Tellason Topper 7,5 oz Denim shirt as the perfect warm/all weather shirt, the Clampdown fills the gap when the temperature drops. Hardwearing denim, double and even triple seams, solid buttons and front pockets. As an upgrade to the topper shirt the clampdown got additional to the pen holder in the breast pocket an additional a knife holder. If you already own a Tellason Jean you might not having trouble to carry your knife in one of the spacious pockets but If you own a really nice knife – now you got the chance to show it.
I own this shirt now over a year. Definitely ranked as the No1.of my shirts in terms of usage, style, toughness and comfort. I thought I did already a post about this great denim shirt but I was wrong. So today when the Manufactum Montatsbrief September 2013 was in the mail I was very happy to see that this piece of garment got its well deserved attention. I took some quick detail images of the shirt, have a look at the real nice buttons and the nice worn in development of the denim. Believe me its softness and comfort after a few washes is hard to match by another fabric. Manufactum has listed it as a piece for your autumn wardrobe but it is definitely with its soft and not to thick 6.5 oz White Oak Cone Denim a good pick for summer as well.
Wonderful details, I especially like the huge pockets, the reinforced buttons and the possibility to close the collar tight around the neck – this will somehow restrict the itching fibres finding their way to the skin.
It´s no summer 30 C usedforworkalldayjacket but as soon as the days get colder it will be used more often.
