On our way to Konstanz we finally visited Jeanslife in Winterthur, which was on the agenda for a long time. Roger runs his shop for a more than 2 years now. He managed to hoard some of the finest brands within it. A wide selection of denim/jeans (Jeanslife!), leather jackets, boots, belts … you can walk out there fully dressed from head to toe or just add something to your wardrobe which isn´t that hard in there.  2/3 of his goods are menswear in the ground floor and an excellent selection of 1/3 for your lady at the ground floor.  For sure one of the top stores we´ve been into lately and will return soon.

During the last Bread & Butter fair, Holger Peckmann from Monomento – Hamburg tailored, took orders and showed some of his designs at Fein und Ripp Berlin. I saw one of his tweed vests in the shop and it took me a while to finally realize that the craftsman / tailor of this piece was just sitting in front of me. Holger uses mostly rare deadstock / vintage canvas or tweed for his jackets, vests or trousers. One of his latest designs you can see on the Fein & Ripp website or at his Tumblr Site www.TheRuggedGuys.com.

Today I received a test sample of the Trangia Cooking Set 25-3 UL by Scandic. This is just a short unboxing post. This outdoor cooking set will be tested within the next weeks on my outdoor trips. I´m just sick about broken O-rings and leaking high tech and high powered multifuel burners. Without any doubt the Trangia is the “Landrover Defender” of the outdoor stoves. Im really optimistic it will proof my expectations.

Hiking St. Anton am Arlberg Region – Austria

From saturday till sunday we went to a hike to a  2395m high alpine hut which was on my absolute to see list since years. Bad weather or snow and bad maps were the reason I did not made it there yet. After a steady 5-6 hours wandering uphill we made it to the already warmed up cabin. 2 hiking couples moved already in and they even made too much pasta. We were generous enough to help them to recycle this well made dinner. In exchange we did the washing and I shared my last drops of Flor de Cana Rum with them.

This was also the first time I was just in time to feast on blueberries, they were always too green or too ripe. The mountains and the landscape in this area is great as well. On the way we passed some really rustic cabins for shelter and as hunting base as well.

I definitely have to head back there before winter comes for one or two nights.

From time to time you should meet with friends or a friend to spent a night under the sky, with some booze, a campfire and good stuff for the barbecue. Good friends bring good stuff and the best the best stuff. Starting with some excellent pear spirit called No1 we continued with a giant trout and a saibling. I was curious that it would get a real mess to eat the fish but it wasn´t and the taste of those two great fish were worth it. Enough to feed 4 guys, but we nearly made it and the rest were shared with our two 4 legged companions. The water level on the river rose so it wasn´t as crystal clear as some weeks before.

The de buyer egg pan proofed 100% to be a must have for outdoor camping but the feuerhand lantern is too leaky when not carried upright all the time. (Probably transporting it empty and just refilling it with the absolute must is the key). You will end up having petroleum perfume surrounding you.
