Natic Marine – Marine Uniform by Tadanori Domyo

You have to see and to feel the collection of Natic Marine designed by Tadanori Domyo. So rich in details and crafted so well. I had the chance to take some detail images of his naval/maritime influenced designs. Probably the most fascinating pieces was an oxford style shirt with southern crosses, mermaids and anchors woven into the fabric. But as with most of the Japanese Brands it is so hard to find them over here in Europe, but I really hope that their performance in Berlin @ the Bread & Butter June 2013 has payed of and we will see their garments being distributed here as well.

EDIT!
Takao Tsubouchi from Jayproject just contacted me, he is distributing Natic and other Japanese premiums brands and is located in Milano (Italy), so he is your contact over here.

Got this great spanish comics from 1958 yesterday. A perfect photo background for the Feinschmuck Western Belt or Longhorn Belt. What I already learned is “Manos Arriba!” which means “hands up”.

If you want to improve your cowboy spanish, I just found out that Mendoza Colt is available to read online here.

I just spent one day in the Alps and discovered another great hiking area with possible winter hike possibilities. The area around the Kaltenbergerhütte is not just surrounded by a great panoramic scenery but also the area to run free for easy more than 100 Haflinger horses.

Obsidian Knifes made in Germany by Michael Hausberg

Exceptional friends have exceptional friends too, so I was aware of meeting some very interesting people on a friends 65th birthday today. I had not even the chance to grab a beer, when I spotted this wonderful handcrafted Obsidian Knife which was one of the presents for the host.

I had the chance to grab the knife and take some images and had a short talk with the guy who crafted this knife. Obsidian is volcanic glass which was formed to a blade and sharpened razorsharp by Michael Hausberg. Since Michael is a avid stone collector, he used a special river stone for it´s handle. If you are interested in his knifes, have a closer look at some other works he did and drop me a mail which I will forward to him.

Actually it was overdue to finally visit Roger Hatt and his Crew at his store in Zürich. Close in the centre (Rindermarkt) the shop is easy to find. We had about an hour talk with Roger Hatt alone. Even if it was just half an hour the words he spoke were packed with stories about his store, philosophy, japanese culture and the way to run a shop he does, with no less than 10 employes. To sell some of the finest products it needs not just a showroom it needs dedicated/motivated salesman and saleswoman. He got them and he got a lot of them e.g. Fredy works there since 23 years. They make sure you get what you want/need with the perfect fit.

One of the stories Roger told us, was that some of the greatest moments within the shop is when you manage to bring a Top Manager buying a pair of classic brogues (did he say Allen Edmonds or Alden I do not remember – whatever) and a skater buying a pair of converse together in his shop and having a chat. That´s what makes this shop so special. There, you you just don´t not rush in. Things “hidden” there are waiting for you and he and his staff makes the search for it a pleasant experience. So the sign “no self service” is actually ment to support and to service YOU.

And one last word, we – Feinschmuck are very proud to be one of the selected brands there.
