LVC Levi´s Vintage Clothing & Bing Crosby Denim Tuxedo

As with exceptional things, they get remarkable when they are connected by a good story they can tell. Thanks to Thomas for guiding me around a bit through the denim world @ the Bread & Butter Summer 2013. Before his tour I was just fascinated by LVC new collection and especially the yellow Western Shirt made of silk and so nicely done embroidery. But via Thomas I understood the story of the Bing Crosby Denim Tuxedo made by Levi´s. A limited edition of this Tuxedo will be produced by Levi´s,  an Investment and for sure it gets a well hunted collectors item.

Here the short story about this Tuxedo and Bing Crosby´s connection to it.
After he was told to be not dressed appropriate in his Levi´s Jeans by a Canadian Hotel Clerk and was nearly rejected to get a hotel room for the night, Bing told the story Levi´s and they went into action and crafted him a Denim Tuxedo. The President of the American Hotel Association even put a Label inside and granted him – Bing Crosby entrance to all Hotels in America in this Tuxedo.

Natic Marine – Marine Uniform by Tadanori Domyo

You have to see and to feel the collection of Natic Marine designed by Tadanori Domyo. So rich in details and crafted so well. I had the chance to take some detail images of his naval/maritime influenced designs. Probably the most fascinating pieces was an oxford style shirt with southern crosses, mermaids and anchors woven into the fabric. But as with most of the Japanese Brands it is so hard to find them over here in Europe, but I really hope that their performance in Berlin @ the Bread & Butter June 2013 has payed of and we will see their garments being distributed here as well.

EDIT!
Takao Tsubouchi from Jayproject just contacted me, he is distributing Natic and other Japanese premiums brands and is located in Milano (Italy), so he is your contact over here.

Just a small glimpse into the cartridge collection of Kiki Fritz who we met at the Bread&Butter in Berlin. Kiki Fritz is a gold- & silversmith from south Tyrol – Bozen. Inspired by finds of old rifle cartridges from WWI + WWII she started to cut off the bottoms and integrate them into rings and cufflinks. Since the state of decay of those cartridges and the id marks, all works by her are unique.

Saint James + Twothirds naval shirt:
Walked by this great shirt at the Bread&Butter Summer 2013. Did you know that striped shirts were so popular by sailors be-cause they tend to be easier to be spotted when the went overboard + that classic marine striped shirts got 13 stripes. The shirt can be ordered for 100 Euro here. Enjoy to watch the Movie “UNE HISTOIRE D’EAU — MADE IN FRANCE” or the History of the sea/water.

Combining traveling with friends, meeting friends in Milano and having the Salone furniture fair with all its exhibitions and events around is a sure bet for a great weekend. Weather was fine as well, snow on the San Bernardino but as more we approached Milano it got warmer and warmer.  We were welcomed with some great wines and homemade pasta & vongole and the evening went quite into the morning. Next day we headed to the Lambrate area where you mostly see young designers and students showing their work to the world. A great vibe with amazing architecture and a great mix of exhibited objects. The Sea Chair Project and the works of Sander Mulder were the most memorable to me. Later that day we went to the Brera district for some shopping and due to the fact that you just have to look out for the read flags you can find art as much as you have capacity there as well. Milano is very special and you can find too much interesting stuff everywhere so I just posted some random images of the whole trip. Just one great last advice – save some money for the shopping in one of the Italian supermarkets before heading home – hmm awesome stuff as well. Hard to believe that just 3,5 hours southwards the food, fruits and vegetables are such at a different level …
