Pfitzauf form and altered recipe

At one of my favorite drift shops, again I found something useful. An old clay form for a Swabian dessert called “Pfitzauf”. I guess I will give this traditional recipe a try sometime (never heard before). But my intentions were to put some sweet yeast dough, filled with plum jelly or other fruits and top it with a giant amount of brown butter, bread crumbs and caramelized sugar. The first try happened about 4 hours after I bought the form, be-cause I already had some dough for bread in the kitchen to rise, which i altered with milk, vanilla sugar and butter. They were ok for a first try but for sure I need even more butter (150g+)! Topped with lots of vanilla sauce could turn out to be an all time favorite.

Pimped an old rusty kitchen knife:
Friday just after work I bought some essentials from my favorite farm shop. And they had a small fleamarket there, where I also bought this kitchen knife by “Friedrich Otto Stöcker Solingen”. Not a real beauty but rugged and easily to sharpen. It needed some some polishing, oil and a treatment on the wetstones.  Just fitting  wonderful to the other knifes.

I´m hungry – Stuff we liked to eat in Thailand

Stuff we liked to eat in Thailand, guess what I´m hungry:
Browsing through my photo library I found some images from Thailand. I guess the plans for the winter retreat – vacation 2012/2013 are done, a bit Thailand and Burma.

Traveling to a country where there is no good food makes no sense to me, if you are not forced to do so. Great cultures have mostly a good cuisine, while the others have not. No need to not enjoy one of the joys of life on vacation. Thailand is for sure on the top list after Italy. And I´m not talking about fancy restaurants, I talk about great food basically everywhere, around the corner, on the bus station …
