Berlin Gürtel – Berlin belt buckle
Berlin belt buckle – Berlin Gürtel & Platz der Luftbrücke monument:
Just in front of the Berlin Tempelhof Airport there is the Platz der Luftbrücke with its monument. When we walked by to the Bread and Butter fair, I realized that the patina of the Berlin Feinschmuck Gürtel/belt goes quite well with it.

RT N’ 44s + Rising Sun Jeans
RT N’ 44s + Rising Sun Jeans:
What a great band, as a music rookie my first thought was they got something from Johnny Cash, then came in the washboard and the banjo.
RT has stated that RT N’ THE 44s was born out of “an attempt to make listenable music from junk”. They have been described as a “vintage country band with dark obsessions”. Later by searching for more tracks I found this video above where they are dressed by Rising Sun Jeans. What a perfect they team they form. Rising Sun & Co. slogan is:
Tailor made indigo goods, & workwear capturing the optimistic spirit of America´s golden age of craftsmanship.
I saw the Rising Sun Straight Razor collection last year in Munich and I´m happy to see them in Berlin this week. Thanks Frederik for sharing this band with us.

Missouri Meerschaum Corn Cob pipe
Missouri Meerschaum Corn Cob pipe:
Grabbed this pipe on a recent trip to Italy. Not knowing that it is actually the famous Popeye pipe. But not only Popeye was one of it´s famous users, Norman Rockwell (Saturday Evening Post), Mark Twain and Frosty the Snowman and now me.
I was a bit puzzled when I read the “Meerschaum” reference on the bottom of the pipe but it is part of the name. The pipe (head) is made of a corn cob and wood.
Grown in Missouri soil and handcrafted for over 143 years in the same Washington, Missouri, building, Genuine Missouri Meerschaum Corn Cob Pipes are an American Legend – making Missouri Meerschaum the world’s oldest, largest, and leading manufacturer of corn cob pipes. Since 1869, six generations of Missouri Meerschaum skilled craftsmen have believed there is no substitute for quality and excellence.
munich coat of arms belt – Münchner Stadtwappen Gürtel
Münchner Wappen Gürtel – Munich coat of arms belt – Münchner Kindl:
Yesterday Manfred from Feinschmuck gave me this belt buckle made after a 13th. century coat of arms (Stadtwappen / Stadtsiegel) from the city of Munich.
Can someone make out the full text on the buckle and figure out the meaning?
Below something from Wikipedia the full story here: Münchner Kindl.
The coat of arms of Munich (Münchner Wappen) depicts a young monk dressed in black holding a red book. It has existed in a similar form since the 13th century, though at certain points in its history it has not depicted the central figure of the monk at all. As the German name for Munich, i.e. München, means of Monks, the monk in this case is a self-explanatory symbol who represents the city of Munich. Appearing on a document of May 28, 1239, the oldest seal of Munich has a picture of a monk wearing an open hood. While all seal impressions show the monk with the book in one hand and three outstretched fingers in the other, the monk has varied slightly, appearing in profile, then later full-faced and bare-headed. By the 19th century the figure was portrayed as youthful and became known as the Münchner Kindl or Munich Child. The coat of arms in its current form was created in 1957 and is still an important symbol of the Bavarian state capital.
