The Süddeutsche Magazin writer Paul-Philipp Hanske made a comment on the end of his story “I used to sprinkle my cheeks as a youngster with the aftershave of my dad. Until his cousin explained to me that “Pino Silvestre” which is smelling like fir resin does not “score with the woman”.
Thats the smell I connect with my father and since years I use it to finish / round up the task of a straight razor shave. If the quote is right, I do not want to know how many sisters and brothers I might have got if he never used Pino Silvestre.
First of all the sad stuff, they are made in China since about 8 years an no loger in the USA. But except from that they are a classic item you need to have. The design is mainly unchanged since 100 years now, if that doesn´t speaks a language. I was giving away two of them one to a friend and one to my sister and theyboth love them. With my friend, “where is Stanley” turned out to be a common phrase and I envied him for “Stanley”. My sister uses “Stanley”even as a part of self defense kit when walking home at night from work.
The main reason I did not by one, was that I already have a similar size steel one. But you have to understand that Stanleys have got a kind of a soul. With their look, their handle and the performance to burn your moth on the content even after 12 hours. So I´m a happy owner of one as well now. Welcome to the club! Try it out, give a good friend one as a present and see how long you last before you buy your own or beg him for a greenish present with a handle.
Pollini high heels: This is the story of Maria´s final choice for a classic black high heel by Pollini. Milano is great be-cause all the top brands have stores there and are quite close together. Equipped with a pair of Red Wings Pecos, easy to go back and forth to pick the final one – finally. What a great combination Red Wing + Pollini.
When I first saw the Red Wing classic-heritage collection, this boot the 9013 was the first choice for me, unfortunately it was not available at my size. As time passed by, luckily exactly my size showed up on eBay.
Worn now for 2 weeks it shows the first characteristics – more to come.
Here the description from Red Wing: “Harkening back to a time when a gentlemen wore functional footwear with a touch of class, the Beckman Collection is named after the founder of the Red Wing Shoe Company; Charles Beckman. Mr. Beckman navigated the muddy streets of Red Wing as part of his daily routine. He wore sturdy boots that could be polished to match his status as a successful Main Street shoe store merchant. Today the Beckman Collection consists of classically styled, comfortable boots that make them the perfect choice for nearly any occasion. Made with Red Wing’s finest Featherstone Leather these boots are built to impress.”
