Bronze Celtic Warrior armlet by Feinschmuck:
Another great piece by Feinschmuck. A 99,9%, very detailed reproduction of a cast bronze Celtic warrior armlet, torque decorated with engraved geometrical pattern, Hallstatt culture (about 800 to 475BC). Manfred did a great job of putting some patina on it, just in case you do not want to wear it for some centuries.

I met an Englishman at a diving safari in Burma and he was a crazy collector of rare things. He told me some weired storys and one of them was that he asked at the coroner at a hospital if he got glass eyes. He got not just one, he gave him a full box of them. Needless to say, I had to get at least one. They are true masterpieces of craftsmanship and quite expensive even 2nd hand.
Beautiful Argentina – some random photos of our last trip:
2005 we traveled from Mexico to Brazil in 6 month. My favorite country on this trip was Argentina. With the food I fell in love at first sight – not just eggs and beans. (hmm I guess I have to share my favorite restaurant with you soon). Buenos Aires is amazing, and a big city you do not get tired of so quickly. The countryside itself was absolutely stunning, not just Patagonia, also the desert like north, close to Bolivia.
Feinschmuck Lindauer Belt – used, mine vs. Maria´s:
Today I saw Maria´s Feinschmuck Lindauer belt and somehow her leather showed a lot more wear and a nicer color. Can it be that she has worn it more often?
The angle of the camera might cheat a bit. The lower belt is 3 cm while the upper one is 4 cm (the leather). The upper buckle 0,5 cm wider (4,5 cm) but 0,1 cm (8,2 cm) shorter.
In butter roasted bread slices with Nutella and banana:
This breakfeast / breakfast is in my mind since days.
What you need is two slices of bread, butter, a banana and Nutella.
Heat the pan, and put in a lot of butter (the bread will soak it up quite well) and let it brown a bit (for the aroma). Then roast the bread slices until they are brown on both sides.
Now it´s time to heat up the banana slices a bit (also for the aroma). Nutella on the bread and top it with the banana slices. Eat it before it gets cold, nice butter flavor, crisp bread and a strong banana taste. What a great breakfast.
Ah – do not even think about the calories – don´t blame butter/fat or carbohydrates if you happen to be too fat – blame yourself for being too lazy ;-)
Life is too short to count calories and eat with 2nd choice ingredients.

The nephew and successful French photographer Sascha Goldberger wanted to cheer his sad grandma (91 years old) up by taking some bizarre images of her. What started as a small project is now known worldwide and grandma aka. Super Mamika Goldberger is quite star.

Vintage German matchsticks – Zündhölzer:
Found this cool matches / matchsticks today. Must be at least 20 – 30 years old. Full of smart ass phrases, like
“hast du zündhölzer – hast du feuer!”
– you got matches – you got fire!
“wer immer stets vergleiche zieht – im fachgeschäft den vorteil sieht”
– who constantly compares sees the advantages of buying in a specialist store
“der kluge kopf kauft nur im fachgeschäft”
– the smart head buys only in a specialty store.
The phases could not be more relevant than they are today. I guess at the time these matchsticks were produced – Internet was still far away and supermarkets outlet stores and malls were as well not too omnipresent.
Would love to see these matches soon in one of the shops featured on the right side of my website.
Barbecue with friends at the lake of constance:
Saturday was another meaty day with a barbecue and friends on the lake. Close by is a guy who is crafting sculptures out of wood which went ashore. A quite nice scenery.
Swiss army backpack – salt and pepper – how to close it!I never was too happy how I used to close this backpack – there is for sure some soldier proof instruction around. I´m heading for some serious barbecue and I thought again how to close it better. There are two d-rings / loops in the middle of the rucksack, just go with one of the sting in the upper and pull and the with the other string in the lower and pull. Go with the ends around the canvas and do a bow knot. Thats it, it is closed and fixed to the pack. Since the material is very strong and stiff other methods until now resulted in a too high profile of the back.

Chinese Sports Multi Purpose Pocket Knife:
Two years ago I bought these knifes in Thailand in the busy harbor city of Ranong which is very close to Burma. Walking trough the streets I saw this shop selling one of this knifes. I liked the bizarre motives on the knife. Does it mean you can use this knife for: weight lifting, tennis, ping pong, shooting/hunting, … so a multi sports purpose pocket knife? Or is it a talisman for doing this sports. Since it was Chinese new year the 2nd guess might be more likely. The shop owner could not answer my question, however to get a good good price a took a dozen – they might still wonder what this “falang” (thai for foreigner) is doing with this stuff.
